Corin was born in London in 1957. He has been working with music since a very early age and he released his first tracks in 1975. He started playing rhythm guitar in punk bands in London in 1976. DJing at first was playing warm-up sets for his own band in different clubs, including the seminal Gossips/Billies club in London’s Soho district. This gradually took over and became a full time career. He moved to Berlin in 1989, just a few months before the wall fell. Still today he lives in KuLe, the last artists’ collective in August Strasse Berlin Mitte where he has resided since 1991.
He has fulfilled over 4000 bookings as a DJ and he has produced & released his own music on tape, vinyl, cd and as digital files. He particularly favours a more experimental sound which has resulted in many collaborations with artists, filmmakers, dancers and theatre productions all over Europe and the US.
He runs his own label and event series “Dangerous Drums” which is celebrating 20+ years of continuous existence, during which he has curated and hosted performances by well over 300 regional, national and international Djs, Musicians & Visual Artists. He started staging his own events in 1990 at the Cha Cha club in West Berlin where he curated nights and hosted the debut Berlin club shows for Colin Faver, Soul 2 Soul, Tim Westwood and Rave Era deep house legend Arnold Jarvis.
Corin has had continuous shows on different radio stations since 1992 and is currently in the process of finishing his book that is an autobiographic account of the Berlin Mitte subculture in the 90s.
His 5 hour lomg sunday night weekly ambient show on Kiss Fm from 93 to 98 is widely regarded as having had a significant influence on the then emerging own soundscape of the still very new united Berlin. He has regularly written articles for music magazines & online blogs, as well as music reviews and promotional material for Artists, Labels and SubCulture orientated collectives and individuals.
In 2014 he initiated “Dub Intervention” which is an ongoing project, and most recently he has started an offshoot project “Dangerous Drums Roots” which is dedicated to invited guests showcasing their own unique musical journeys, throughout their creative careers, including any important influences that predate the start of their professional engagement.
He has also worked extensively across several decades and generations of Record Shops and Music Outlets, including Bonapartes (Kings Cross London 79-83, Punk, Post Punk, Reggae), Der Mission (Kreuzberg & Schoeneberg Berlin 93-98 Electronica, Ambient, TripHop, D&B, Breaks etc), Form Follows Function (Mitte Berlin 98-01 Specialised in Berlin Labels), Eds Pop Up Shop ( Berlin Mitte 2017 one time).
In 2020 his Below The Radar project will run from his studio. It is a record and cd store which is only accessible by previous appointment.
Now in his early 60s, a grandfather for the 3rd time in 2019, and with a 40 year career behind him, as a Dj he has a vast archive to draw upon, spanning every aspect of the evolution of music sub culture from the mid 1960s to the present day. This combined with hands on experience playing it all, and a genuine love for it offers a combination of diversity, experience and dedication which are the bedrock of his wide ranging and eclectic repertoire.
