Malaga’s burgeoning star Marino Canal is not by any means a new acquaintance to the inveterate electronic music aficionado.
Having cut his teeth on the local underground scene for well over a decade, the Spanish native is now widely considered one of the most gifted and promising producer and DJ talents in all of electronic music.
A permanent fixture in the sets of a who’s who of contemporary dance music superstars in the likes of Camelphat, Tale of Us, Solomun, Adriatique, John Digweed, Sasha, and Pete Tong, Marino was born with an uncanny ability to craft some of the most unique and emotionally charged soundscapes you’ll ever hear.
Since his debut studio album “Over Under” was released on uncrowned techno queen Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint in 2016, Marino’s gone on to become a staple artist on Adriatique’s seminal Siamese, Tale of Us’ Afterlife as well as Jeremy Olander’s Vivrant, and has played lauded sets at the world’s most coveted clubs and festivals in the likes of Tomorrowland in Belgium, Printworks in London, Shelter in Amsterdam, Pacha in Barcelona and Hï Ibiza.
His collaboration from the summer of 2020, ‘Home’, with said Swiss duo and Delhia De France, went on to receive Essential New Tune honors by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and became the Beatport Overall Top 100 #1 track for multiple weeks straight. To date, the record has garnered over 16 million streams across Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music and seen two high-profile remixes by Mind Against and Konstantin Sibold.
With noticeable yet subtle influences from luminaries in the likes of Brian Eno, Philip Glass, John Cagere, and Steve Reich, Marino has carved out his own trademark sound that has made a forceful impact on the scene.
His productions are versatile and unpredictable and have been described by fans, peers, and critics alike as organic, hypnotic, and melancholic.
His meticulous attention to detail and work ethic in the studio as well as in the booth creates sonic voyages unlike any other, and bode for a long and illustrious career with the potential to transcend far and wide beyond electronic clubs and festivals.
With a sophomore collaboration project, ‘All I Ever Wanted’ with Adriatique on Siamese, multiple high-profile remixes, and debut solo projects on some of the most highly touted labels on the scene, 2023 and beyond is there for the taking for Marino Canal.
