Parallel

Back on Stil vor Talent after contributing a banging remix to Oliver Koletzki and Fritz Kalbrenner's "Heart on Hold" a few months ago, Bulgarian producer Pavel Petrov turns in his debut solo transmission for us, "Parallel". Comprised of two cuts that give full vent to his epic-sized vision and monumental buildups, Petrov's newest bridges the gap between frontal sonic assault and a sensorially effervescing sound design.

As cascades of pumped up Italo arpeggios and languid pads mingle in a cosmic symphony of sorts, "Parallel" opens up a portal to some unknown clubbing dimension, where a brooding, near-dystopian atmosphere crosses swords with hypermodern EBM brutalism and grime-informed vox sampling. A further straightforward, acid-oriented roller, the second track "C0smica" has us nodding our heads to a crisp deluge of liquid bass and neon-splattered electro vibrancy, ready to take on any dance floor with its inch-perfect combo of retro-laced imagery and sci-fi-indebted kinetics. True to his poised and ambitious DJ-friendly approach, Petrov delivers a duo of fearless club heaters that'll leave wisps of vapour in their wake.
